April 10, 2008 It’s been a really long and tough winter here in ECIPA Land, and as I write this letter it is still snowing!! Enough is enough!! It is time for some nice warm PULLING weather. Let me help you here a bit…..close your eyes and imagine smelling starting fluid and unburned diesel fuel in the air….or how about burgers, brats and hot dogs and maybe an open can of Busch Lite??......and the roar of high compression V-8 truck engines and even the “clunk” you hear when the drop in the chain hook at the starting line? It won’t be long. Our first event for the summer is at North Liberty, Iowa on Sunday June 15 th, 2008. This is a co-sanctioned event, and for all ECI members pulling trucks that day, ECI will be awarding points for your respective classes, so your attendance is important to your/our points race!! Also this summer I would like to encourage pullers from the Tri-State area to come and play with us on dates that there is no conflict. Our 9000 lb LPS class and Tri-State’s big class really have no difference in the rules, so I think there are times when some of our guys could travel north/northeast to return the favor. Dates I see on our schedule would be June 15th (North Liberty) June 19th(Cedar Rapids) July 9th(Osage) and July 12th (Manchester). I’m also excited about more diesel truck classes this summer, as they seem to be catching on quite nicely with the fans. I look forward to this new season and to seeing all of your smiling faces at each event.
